SOMBRERO TREE | MEXICAN DINNER DATE

Image
Hi guys!  A new Sunday means a new blog.  Yesterday Tony and I went on a trip to the town centre. When we arrived we were super hungry so decided to have a dinner date at one of our favourite Mexican restaurants, Chiquito's. There was beautiful artwork placed on each wall as well as sombreros on each table which obviously, we had to try on! When looking around we also saw sombrero trees!! SOMBRERO TRESS!!! I'm not sure why I got excited over them, but I did. When the waitress showed us to our seat, we were present with a small bowl containing popcorn. It hd a powder on the popcorn but I'm not to sure what it was. I wasn't in the mood for a classic Mexican dish so opted for my usual burger with skin on French fries. I added cheese and onion rings onto my burger as it wasn't to expensive. It was so mouthwatering. Tony tucked in to BBQ chicken with his favourite, sweet potato chips. After our dinner date, we then ventured to the arndale (mall). I was ...

LIBERTY CAKE COMPANY | AFTERNOON TEA

Image
Hi guys! Yesterday we visted a lovely cafe called the Liberty Cake Company. It was located in bury which isn't to far from Manchester.  So last sunday was fathers day and because I was working at a convention I was unable to spend the day with my dad.  I've known for a long time, that he has always wanted to try an afternoon/high tea. Knowing this I decided to book a table and take him to this very quaint cafe. I came across this cafe when searching on Google and I am glad I chose this out of all of them!  The whole family went came and also Tony as he is know classed as extended family, seen as I have been with him for so long. So anyway when we got to the cafe we were greeted by a very friendly waitress and taken to our table. There were very cute roses on the table. We firstly ordered drinks. Dad had a classic tea seen as we came for a afternoon tea. Tom and Mum had white hot chocolate, Tony an appletiser and I had a warm vi...

DATE DAY IN MANCHESTER

Image
Hi guys! During the weekends me and Tony like to have a little us time. So that means either getting a dominos and watching movies/Netflix. We are currently watching Luther which we love and whilst on the Netflix subject, Orange is the new black season 4 this week! So excited.  Anyway.....we both also enjoy to go out on a date day/night.  When going out, we tend to stick with what we know but this time, w e decided to go to a restraunt we had never been to before. It  was called the Albert Square Chop Shop and was located in Manchester city centre not far from the Manchester town hall.  It was such a lovely place. The waiters were very nice and welcoming. The food came quickly and the atmosphere was plesant. The food w as a bit on the pricey side however, worth every penny.  I enjoyed a Shepards pie which came very well presented and Tony had steak with chips. That was one of the main reasons we went. He loves steak! I didn't have time to take photos of the chip...

The Best Restaurant | GBK

Image
Hi guys! This week has been a super busy week but instead of not writing a blog at all, I have put together this beauty of a dinner date at Gormet Burger Kitchen. Also known as the best restaurant (in my opinion). I ordered my usual which is a cheese burger with lettuce however this time I went wild and had an onion ring on my burger! Crazy I know. I also ordered skinny fries which basically look like noodles but, they are super tasty. I could eat buckets of them.  Tony ordered his usual which was a plain buffalo burger, he also had an onion ring on his to. He went for the healthier option of sweet potato fries. Recently I haven't been a fan of fizzy drinks. I much prefer to have a drink of orange or apple juice with my meals. So that is what I ordered with my meal. Tony had his usual Sprite. We are creates of habit! I will be back on Wednesday with a much better blog! But for now I hope you enjoyed this. Talk to you soon, Kayleighx

Date Night And Cupcakes

Image
Hi guys!  For Christmas I made a jar for my boyfriend filled with all different types of dates. Last week he picked out the cinema date. So Yesterday we decided to cash in that date and go to the movies. We went to see Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. I wasn't looking forward to it really as I'm not a huge fan of Batman or Superman. Anyway it kind of surprised me. The frost half kind of bored me and then the second half had me totally gripped. Especially when Wonder Woman came into it. We decided to see it in IMAX however, it wasn't in 3D it was in 2D. I much prefer IMAX over ordinary screens as it is huge!! Before the movies we decided to go back into Sugar Junction however, i didn't take any photos as i only wrote a blog about it a couple of weeks ago. The following day (today) we decided to make some tasty vanilla cupcakes topped with cream cheese icing.  We know cream cheese is meant to go with red velvet but it is one o...

South African Restaurant | Dads Birthday

Image
Hi guys! On Friday we celebrated my dads birthday. He got lots of exciting gifts and cards. He obviously got the main 'dad' present of toulbourone. Earlier on this month he had mentioned about going to a South African restaurant so, mum decided to book a table as a suprise. We told him on Monday that we were going out but wouldn't tell him where. He continuously  attempted to spoil the surprise by asking me and my brother where we were going. He hates surprises! We managed to keep it a secret though.  On Friday when we all arrived home from work/college we drove for about an hour to go to the South African restaurant. I think he knew where we were going as we had the built in satnav on and the postcode kind a gave it away. When we arrived it was fairly dark as we had the table booked for 7pm. The restaurant was next to a huge lake (i couldn't get a photo of this because it was t...

Fridge tart | South African snack

Image
Hi guys!! When i was in Australia my Auntie made me a delicious South African dessert. It was called a Peppermint Fridge tart. I decided to make one my self. To make this you will need: 1 Aero pepper mint bar 1 packet of pepper mint mints 2 packets of tennis bakers biscuits 1 tub of whipping cream 1 1/2 cans of caramel Firstly blend or crush the mints (i used about eight), Then add the full bar of Aero and blend or crush it. Make sure the pieces are very fine. Add the whipping cream to a bowl and whisk until thick. I used an electric whisk as i find this to be quicker. When thick add a can and a half of caramel to the cream and then whisk together. After this stage i like to do the taste test to see if it's sweet enough. If you don't find this to be sweet enough you could add the rest of caramel from the tin and whisk again. Then line a dish with the tennis biscuits. Add a layer of the mixture you just created. Then add another layer of biscuits and keep going until...

Halloween pies!

Image
Hi guys! So seen as Halloween is right around the corner I wanted to try and Cook some Halloween inspired pies. I decided to make savoury pies as I always make sweet ones. I found it easy to make these and it didn't take to long!! I hope these inspire you to make your own Halloween themed foood!!  Preheat the oven to 160°c  To make the filling I used: Diced beef, carrots(x3), a potato, an onion, oxo cube, a table spoon of kethup and brown sauce, salt, pepper   To make the pastry I used: 225g flour, 1 egg and 115g of butter.  Filling Firstly I put the beef into a bowl and mixed a table spoon of flour and a tiny bit of salt and pepper. The flour is optional. I then diced the carrot, potato and onion(which isn't in the picture because our eyes were stinging!!!!!) Add sunflower oil (or any oil) to the pan. Fry the onion until it's soft. Put some oil in a seperate pan and cook the beef untill brown. Add the potato and carrot to the onion and fry until cooked. I also ...
